Indian men dial random numbers until they find a girl
Lonely Indian men who are desperate to find girlfriends are in the habit of calling random numbers till they hear a female voice at the other end.
They call up the random numbers and shower the female on the other side with nasty things like “I am talking to you, madam, but my body is shaking” or “I love you”. And the surprising fact is, an unknown number of such calls are successful.
This way of finding a girlfriend for themselves has been emerging as a new trend in India due to its cheaper calling rates. A gang has even started selling women’s phone numbers to men. They charge 500 rupees for beautiful women and 50 for the ordinary ones.
Reports of phone stalking have grown exponentially, leading to increasing grievances of harassment. The police have set up a special call centre to handle complaints from victims of such phone Romeos.
Intentionally dialing wrong numbers is increasingly common in a range of countries — Morocco, Papua New Guinea, Bangladesh and India are examples — where traditional gender segregation has collided head-on with a wave of cheap new technology.
